The Client
St Columba's Roman Catholic Primary School first instructed us in 2014. There was a National Service Provider fire alarm system. However, the contractor was not performing the required services. When it comes to Schools Compliance - fire alarms have to be kept up to standard.
The Problem: Schools Compliance - Fire Alarms
The school had an existing contract with a National Service Provider for the fire alarm system, emergency lighting and intruder alarm servicing. The company also provided intruder alarm monitoring; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Unfortunately, the contractor failed to accept our requests to integrate with our Service Level Agreement. They required written consents from school each time orders or queries were raised by us. This created extra work for the school in having to manage the consent each time servicing was due - and delays in implementing the works.
We also established that the school was paying very high fees for the servicing works - alongside very high callout charges.
In short, the school was getting a poor service, they were paying inflated prices, which led to inevitable dissatisfaction.
Our Solution
St Columba's Roman Catholic Primary School approached us in 2023 requesting that we investigate the possibility of a move away from the National Service Provider. They wanted us to find a suitable contractor, that would integrate with our Service Level Agreement - preferably at a more cost effective price.
After researching suitable contractors geographically nearby to the school, we recommended Automatic Alarms. A site inspection was arranged and they attended to discuss requirements and solutions with the school's site manager.
Automatic Alarms provided their quotation - which turned out to be significantly cheaper than the existing contract with the National Service Provider ... both for the planned maintenance works and the callouts. The school was in a position to save hundreds of pounds on their annual budget.
Wisely, the school also approached other local schools who were using Automatic Alarms. They requested references - and received positive reviews and feedback. They consequently terminated the agreement with the National Service Provider and signed a new agreement with Automatic Alarms.
In the years which have followed, the school have contacted us to provide very positive feedback. They advised that Automatic Alarms suggested and implemented solutions for ongoing issues, that the previous contractor was never able to resolve.
